Last weekend we went to London to see ‚Wicked’ and have a little ‚foodie’ experience, because we all know there is nothing better than food. And if someone says there is, then man, you’ve never had Takoyaki or truffle mustard! Not even mentioning tasty, Nutella filled donuts and other tempting sweets.
I lived in London for a very short period of time before, when I was doing an internship with one of the Embassies and don’t get me wrong it is amazing, but you have to feel that special ‚vibe’ to decide to move there for good! I love going there for the weekend to see a play and browse in shops, but after a few days, hours spent on the tube get annoying and I miss my jolly Welsh reality.
Anyway, first of all the musical ‚Wicked’ was absolutely amazing. You can see it in the famous Apollo Victoria Theatre, it is been played there since its opening and it is so worth seeing! ‚Gravity’ will give you chills, and it is generally a good play for both children and adults.
We also went to the Borough Food Market, I had some sea food, and he tried Ethiopian food. It did not look particularly appealing, but oh wow, it was so tasty! Well seasoned, very filling and not too spicy, but still rich.
They had truffle mustard, that would tickle everyone’s taste buds! We saw truffle stands as well, but after buying £200 worth of truffles that would be the only thing we would eat for the rest of the month, as I wouldn’t even be able to afford beans probably, ha! On the market they also had stands with veg and fruit, all fresh and colourful, I had a million recipes in my head looking at them.
We also had Korean street food in On The Bab in Covent Garden. My dish, Bibimbab was really tasty, and quite healthy, full of veg and steamed rice. We also ordered a 1700 ml beer tower, that would be a fantastic ‚must order’ for any beer lover.
On Sunday, just before we caught our transport back to Cardiff we went to the Japan Centre, we had some japanese street food there, takoyaki filled with octopus was especially tasty, full of flavour with a nice texture to it – also, great to share. I was excited like a little kid about pink soba noodles and matcha tea kit kat’s! They now have sake flavoured edition, and I might get it with the next online order from them. I also bought some sweets and sake as a Christmas gift to introduce a bit of international flavour to this year’s present madness.
